Natural Timber Characteristics & Variations

Before initiating a return for timber fencing products, please be aware that wood is a natural product.

Because it is a natural material, timber may be susceptible to:

Splitting and surface cracking
Natural warping or twisting
Changes in colour over time

These variations are especially common when timber is exposed to extreme weather conditions. These are entirely natural characteristics of wood and are not considered product faults or defects.

Important Quality Standard: Cracks and splits will only be treated as a product defect or a structural concern if they pass through more than three-quarters (75%) of the timber’s total thickness.

How to Return Your Fencing Orders

We hope you are very happy with your fencing supplies. However, should you wish to return an item, we will be pleased to offer a full refund, provided the item is returned to us in a perfect condition suitable for resale.

Return Window: Return requests must be submitted within 14 days of purchase.
Condition: Items must be unused, undamaged, and in a resaleable condition.

Refund Processing Times

Once your fencing materials have been safely returned to our yard, our team will inspect them to confirm they are in a resaleable condition.

Official refunds will be issued within a maximum of 3 working days.
In most cases, we process refunds on the same day the returned item is received and approved.

Can I return custom-sized or treated fence panels?

Our standard 14-day return policy applies to stocked, resaleable fencing materials. Custom-made, bespoke, or altered fencing products may not be eligible for a return unless structurally defective. Please contact our team if you have questions about a specific custom order.

Why is my new timber fence splitting or cracking?

Wood naturally absorbs and loses moisture depending on the weather. Surface splits and cracks are standard characteristics of outdoor timber and do not affect the strength or lifespan of your fence panels. We only classify a crack as a defect if it goes through more than three-quarters of the wood's thickness.

Do you provide a collection service for fencing returns?

Customers are responsible for safely returning items to Almec Fencing in a resaleable condition. If you require advice on transport or have a bulk return, please email our support team with your order reference number to discuss available options.
